Maxime joined ProtoSigns Lab in November 2024, following the completion of his PhD in Geology, undertaken under a cotutelle agreement between the University of Liège (Belgium) and the University of Lille (France). His research focuses on the characterisation of putative microfossils—some dating back 3.4 billion years—through integrated petrographic and geochemical approaches. He has strong expertise in optical and electron microscopy (SEM and TEM), as well as in spectroscopic and spectrometric methods, which he applies to investigate carbonaceous textures, microstructures, and their relationships with silica matrices.
